How to Book Festival

By  |

Festival season is officially here! But if you don’t feel like braving the crowds this year, here’s how to have a book festival and bring the party to you.

If you can’t make it to the big shows this year (or don’t want to), the next best thing is to bring the festival home. This is the way I book festival: (1) dress up with the right shoe (gladiator sandals, lace up knee-high boots, or suede booties are the way to go) and add a romper, (2) pile on the festival accessories like a floppy black hat, statement collars, big earrings, bangle bracelets, and some amazing gold jewelry tattoos  — you can’t go too far, (3) add on mirror reflective sunnies, (4) pucker up with a bright berry-colored lip (I’m obsessed with MAC’s selection of matte fuchsia pinks), (5) blast a killer indie soundtrack like the brilliant Vance Joy (who played Coachella this year),  and — of course — (6) read an awesome book. It’s best to find one with a musical focus like the pictured HOW TO SAVE A LIFE to put you in the right mood, but really, any book will do. Now rock on!!!
