Looking for some new swoon-worthy romance novels? Dating can be pretty hit-or-miss, especially when it comes to first dates. Sometimes it seems like the search for true love might never end in happily ever after. So what’s a girl to do when she’s feeling romantic and looking for a sure thing? The only tried and true place to find the PERFECT guy is on the bookshelf. Whatever your taste, one of the guys below should fit the bill. Here’s my list of the swooniest, melt-your-heart, best romance novels in Young Adult literature. HELLO book boyfriends!
1. Dimitri Belikov – Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead)
Tall, dark & foreign. The only thing hotter than a guy with an accent is a guy who will fight (literally) to protect the girl he loves. This is the classic falling-for-the-older-unattainable-mentor/teacher trope so if that’s your thing Dimitri will not disappoint.
2. Edward Cullen – Twilight (Stephanie Meyer)
Vampire. Enough said. Edward is pretty much the ultimate hard-to-get guy. No, this isn’t Shakespeare but it’s light and fluffy and romantic and fun and if you don’t take it too seriously it’s one helluva good time.
3. Daemon Black – Obsidian (Jennifer Armentrout)
Don’t think aliens are sexy? Daemon Black will make you think again. He just might be the perfect alpha male.
4. Étienne St. Clair – Anna and the French Kiss (Stephanie Perkins)
Is there a better place to fall in love than Paris? NO. NO, THERE IS NOT. And Etienne is the classic “nice” guy to fall in love with while you’re there. Save yourself the long plane ride and the expensive ticket and get this book instead.
5. Spencer Adams – The Wind Blows Backward (Mary Downing Hahn)
The King of Jocks falls hard for the shy loner girl. Yeah, it’s been done before but so what? Does it ever get old? I don’t think so.
6. Jace Herondale – City of Bones (Cassandra Clare)
Poor little Jace Herondale. So supernatural. So tormented. So . . . HOT! This book basically has your standard star-crossed lovers thing going on which makes for some great romantic tension and kissing scenes.
7. Travis Maddox – Beautiful Disaster (Jamie McGuire)
Travis is the ultimate bad boy. Of course, the only girl he wants is the ultimate good girl. And so we get the ultimate romantic read-it-all-in-one sitting book. FYI this one is for a slightly more “mature” reader but don’t worry too much because it’s no Fifty Shades of Grey, either.
8. Jack Goodwin – Racing Savannah (Miranda Kenneally)
The popular rich boy who doesn’t think he’s too cool for school? Does such a creature exist in real life? Doubtful. But in this book, he lives and breaths and will make your heart flutter. Trust.
9. Jax Stone – Breathe (Abbi Glines)
Jax is one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. What red-blooded female hasn’t secretly wondered what it might be like to date a rock star? Now you can find out.
10. Stefan and Damon Salvatore – Vampire Diaries (LJ Smith)
Okay, so there’s already one vampire on this list so I couldn’t put two in the top ten but no list would be complete without this mention because . . . wait for it . . . VAMPIRE BROTHERS!!! Boom. Is there anything else to say? Whatever your mood, there is a Salvatore brother. Like ’em protective and sweet? Stefan is your man. Like ’em all dark and twisty? Then Damon’s more your speed. Pro tip: The TV show is currently on Netflix and is just as fun as the books.
